Course Description

Explore the performing arts and theatre. Students experience the thrill of participating in live theatre performances.

Theatre is a “team sport.” We desire for our students to learn to appreciate being part of a larger whole. Each stage production requires the work and cooperation of many people to raise up a standard of theatrical excellence for Christ. Whether on the stage or behind the curtain or up in the sound booth, each one has an important job to do to contribute to the success of a show. Under the supervision of our Theatre instructors and other adult volunteers, we will provide opportunity for students to experience and learn about as many aspects of Theatre as possible, including:

Application of stage makeup
Set construction and scenic art
Stage crew training, including: moving sets & props between scenes, operation of lights, sound, and curtains
Sales, advertising, and marketing of tickets
Costume design and construction
Props gathering, creation, and management during a show
Setting up for and cleaning up after shows
Acting and dramatic speaking skills and vocality
Choreography of fight scenes
Character development
Ensemble community
Stage presence
Various movement forms
